| All
in all, I must say, that other than Old Faithful which we waited an
hour and a half to see (worth the wait) and the natural hot baths
and steam vents, the park is not as compelling as I expected. It is
also sad to see all the devastation from the 1988 fire. The scope
is incredible. We have looked at burnt trees throughout the entire
park. It is almost unbelievable that so much area could be destroyed.
All in all, this and Plymouth Rock are my two top disappointments.
Once we left Yellowstone, we got to ride in view of the “Grand
Tetons”. Now these are some grand looking mountains. These and
the mountains north of Yellowstone are by far the more magnificent
aspects of the area. Lots of OPEN land and SPACE in southern Wyoming
as we headed for the border. We arrived in Rock Springs and went to
a movie, Tomb Raider. This KAO gets the award for turning a vacant
couple of flat acres of property in the middle of nowhere into a profitable
business. They literally bought a flat spot next to the Hwy and behind
some huge gas-like storage tanks and covered it in gravel, put in
RV septic, water and power plug ins, 4-6 cabins and a dozen gravel
tent spots and called it a KAO. Oh well. It did the job for us. |
