Travel Highlights
Continuing our push across the flat lands we covered 5 states today. All things considered I prefer the USA version of the flat lands to the Canadian. More to see and the road has the occasional up and down and some curvature to keep ones attention. We seem to have had a bit of a break through with the Haley and dad struggle that has been going on this week. I was trying to figure out what to do and I remembered a good friend’s advice before we left. When I mentioned I needed to make sure Haley had a good time he said ok but don’t make it your job. I just got what he meant and took the advice. Thanks Karl :~} I have spent the first half of the trip letting Haley make her every moment needs my problem. Last night I gave Haley the responsibility of the trip. In fact I gave her a weekly budget to manage so she was not coming to me every hour and asking for money. If she blows it she is out of money till the next Monday, and if I do not see some respect and less talking back she will not see the money, period. I also charged her with seeing that I had a good trip. If I’m not having fun then we are not going to do the things she wants like going all they way to the top of Montana to see her cousins and going horseback riding, as well as things like spending extra days at places she wants to play etc. I’m not sure this is all good news but the first day’s results have been dramatic. We’ll see how it goes.
