| We headed
out of Revelstoke going East on the Trans Canada Hwy with the goal
of reaching the heart of the Saskatchewan mountains by days end. It
was definitely a Hwy as our speeds would attest but a most magnificent
Hwy to say the least. As we passed over Rodgers pass, the mountains,
rivers and vistas set new standards of beauty as the pictures will
demonstrate. I thought we might have reached an impassable bench
mark for visual stimulus but as we discovered we had only been given
an appetizer for the views that followed as we turned off the Trans
Canada Hwy and headed north from Lake Louise towards Jasper. This
area is all State park territory and the dramatic mountains, crystal
clear turquoise waters and breath taking vistas made me wish I had
a better vocabulary. I am clearly out of adjectives to describe the
ever increasing beauty we are being exposed to as we travel through
the middle of the Canadian Rockies. We have never been able to pre-book
our overnight accommodations and once again we landed in an amazing
location. We unintentionally stopped in a different place then planned
but later discovered that this place was about a third the price of
the other options and as you can see in the pictures we landed in
the very heart of the most amazing mountains we have looked upon to
date. While there I met a couple of bikers that were on their way
home. They started out in LA and went to the tip of Alaska and were
now returning to LA LA land. I also met another biker in the lodge
bar and he was headed for Calgary for the yearly Calgary Stampede
fair. Stampede is a world fair scale event and considering Haley’s
love for horses we have adjusted our plans to allow us to spend Tuesday
at the event. |
