| As
we were checking out we met a couple on a Harley from Germany. They
were about 2 months and 16,000 miles into a 6 month trip and heading
to the big biker festival in Sturgis and the Harley anniversary event.
We started out on the amazing journey out of Leavenworth which is
full of snow capped mountains feeding streams from the top of the mountains
to the beautiful waterfalls they feed at the bottom. In contrast to
this we eventually met Hwy 5 and had to spend a couple of hours banging
out some miles. Once we arrived in Canada things got fun again and
we headed for our first motorcycle/Ferry adventure. As it is in the
states so it is in Canada as well, motorcycles get preferred treatment
and we were directed to the head of the line. A line of over 100 cars
at that. The ferry was very cool for us both and we spent an hour
and a half enjoying the beautiful mountain and island views. From
the ferry we had a 45 minute ride to our KOA where we settled into
our cabin and went out to dinner. We had a great dinner and met a
very nice owner named Lyn who owned the restaurant and the brand new
hotel next door named the Malahat Mountain Inn. I highly recommend
your staying there and enjoying her hospitality and delectable selection
of appetizers, entrees and deserts. |
